SoBou Sips presents A Little Sugar, Rhum Agricole and Cachaca! $25 Thursday April 16th, 2015 6pm
Sugar cane is essential to the Louisiana economy and three local distilleries are turning that sugar into rum! This rum tasting will feature all our local Louisiana distillers and their varieties of white, spiced and aged rums. $25 includes four tastings and a palette cleansing cocktail.
Ever wanted to know the difference between a potato vodka and rice vodka? Can you tell the difference between Rum and Rhum? How is a Bourbon different that a Rye? SoBou Sips is a monthly series that will explore the ever increasing variety of spirits and liqueurs. Led by Bar Chef Abigail Gullo, SoBou Sips is open to industry professionals and the drinking enthusiast alike. Every session includes a tasting of spirits, a palette-cleansing cocktail and a blind tasting. Prepare your stomach before hand with Happier Hour bites from 3-6 p.m. With delicious bites and sips from SoBou, you are sure to leave in high spirits! $25. USBG members $20.

Come share the history and creation of some our most famous cocktails. How do you make them at home? For a Party? Who invented the Sazaerc? What are the perfect proportions of a Sour? What is the difference between a Daiquiri, a Caparinha and a Margarita? Was the Manhattan invented in Manhattan? Should a Martini be shaken or stirred? Join SoBou Bar Chef Abigail Gullo as she continues her Thirsty Thursdays with Cocktails 101 on the second Thursday of every month starting in March. The class with have technique, history and hopefully some lively debate, each month featuring a different cocktail. 6pm, $25. $20 for USBG members
